Heritage Public Library serves the citizens of Charles City and New Kent. Library patrons from both counties are free to use whichever branch is more convenient or accessible to them. Your library card works at both branches. You can request items from either library branch to be brought to the library branch that you use and you can return your library items to either location.

Free Homework Assistance(Through 6th grade)

Story Time - New Kent Branch


Fridays at 10:00am. We just acquired more space and have a larger room. Bring your little ones to hear great stories read at our story time. Refreshments for children provided.

Author Reception

Dallas H. Oslin, Jr. will be at the New Kent Branch of the Heritage Public Library Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 11:00-1:00pm to present his book, "NEW KENT COUNTY, VIRGINIA IN 1863".

A BOOK PORTRAYING NEW KENT COUNTY DURING AND BEFORE THE CIVIL WAR

This Book, representing 20 years of research by the author, is a detail compilation of owner and plantation maps, illustrations and photographs, plus appendices that include tax records, marriage records, listing of county government officials dating back to the early 17th century.

Refreshments provided by the NKJWC.



Heritage Public Library's Book Club Meeting is January 13, 2009, 1:30pm at the New Kent Branch. January's selection is "Plainsong" by Kent Haruf. All are welcome to join every 2nd Tuesday.

Mission Statement

The mission of Heritage Library is to provide library materials and services to help the citizens of Charles City and New Kent counties meet their educational, informational and recreational needs. More specifically, the Library should promote the enjoyment and necessity of reading, the discovery of knowledge and culture in all their forms, and the advantages and pleasures of life-long learning. Special emphasis is placed on stimulating children's interest in and appreciation of reading and learning.
